There was some good news for Thai fans as eighth seed Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk beat Chong Wei Feng of Malaysia 21-18, 21-18 to advance to the second round of the men's singles. Tanongsak will next meet Hu Yun after the Hong Kong shuttler edged Sameer Verma of India 28-26, 23-21. Bodin Isara and Nipitphon also came through their first round match with a 21-14, 21-18 win over Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Hendra Wijaya in the men's doubles.
